Resources for Safely Disposing of Unused Prescription Medication
CSIP has been a proud supporter of national efforts by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to promote safe disposal of unused or expired prescription medications at one of thousands of free drop-off locations around the country. Making sure these medications are turned-in will help ensure that they are properly destroyed and do not become a source of misuse or addiction.
In the past, CSIP members Meta, Google, Microsoft and X/Twitter have worked collaboratively to promote the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day through coordinated national ads which featured an automated chat using Facebook Messenger, where consumers could input their zip code to find nearby drop-off locations for medicines, and also receive related information on prescription medication misuse or addiction support.
