China-Based Opioid Manufacturers Use U.S Postal Service

A report, recently released from the Senate Homeland Security Committee, identified weaknesses in the drug screening system of the U.S. Postal Service. The gaps in the tracking and tracking process allow for the deadly drug fentanyl to flood U.S. cities. “Last October, the Department of Justice announced its first ever charges filed against a Chinese opioid manufacturer, who maintained a web of distributors throughout the U.S. and Canada.” This effort by the Department of Justice is part of larger federal government efforts to address the country’s rising opioid epidemic.
