A recent article in Pharmaceutical Commerce highlighted the work of CSIP in consumer education on the potential dangers of buying drugs online. Consumer education is central to the mission of CSIP. Through its long history of working with search engine providers and the financial industry, to its new efforts with the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids (Partnership), CSIP works to tackle the opioid epidemic through protecting consumers from the online sale of illegal and unregulated drugs – including via the Dark web. CSIP does its work without engaging with the pharmaceutical industry – recognizing that balance and transparency are key to its efforts.
From its online pharmacy verification tool (with partner LegitScript) to its MedicineSafe project with the Partnership, CSIP aims to provide educational tools to consumers, parents, and caregivers on safe prescription use and disposal, as well as resources for gaining access to treatment programs.
