CSIP News - tablet

President and CEO of the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids (the Partnership), Fred Muench, PhD, was interviewed on NASH Cares with host Tiffany Marie. He spoke about the help line, tools, and resources available through the Partnership for parents and caregivers whose children are struggling with addiction. Dr. Muench’s background in digital outreach efforts has helped enhance the resources available online through the Partnership. With the dramatic increase in opioid overdoses over the past 5 years and the concerns of synthetic fentanyl coming from overseas, there is more need than ever before. While there has been a reduction in teens using pills, there is an increase in the unknowing and dangerous use of fentanyl when it is laced in drugs. More resources are needed to empower families to help their loves ones – in both prevention and treatment.

The MedicineSafe coalition was also highlighted during the interview. In 2018, CSIP and the Partnership launched MedicineSafe, a coalition of national and state public and private partners, to provide expert information and tools for safely managing prescription drugs and opioid addiction. CSIP resource, VerifyBeforeYouBuy was also highlighted during the interview as an effective tool for helping consumers find safe, legal online pharmacies. It is powered by LegitScript.
