A Couple’s Tough Trek Back from Opioid Addiction

Addiction is too often an unexpected outcome for someone who is trying to manage emotional or physical pain or who doesn’t realize how quickly addiction can develop from what seems to be harmless, occasional use of drugs. CSIP Executive Director, Marjorie Clifton, and Fred Muench, CEO of the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids (the Partnership), were recently interviewed by Health Day as part of an article highlighting the experience of a couple who overcame addiction. Being connected with recovered addicts who can share hope and being surrounded by family members who have the support systems they need, can make a big difference to someone who is trying to overcome addiction. MedicineSafe, a collaboration between CSIP and the Partnership, is a coalition of national and state public and private partners, providing expert information and tools for safely managing prescription drugs and opioid addiction.
