Google, Facebook and Twitter Unite for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
Tech industry, CSIP and DEA work together to eliminate the most common source of misused opioids – people’s homes

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Center for Safe Internet Pharmacies (CSIP) – a coalition dedicated to protecting and educating consumers about prescription drug safety – and an unprecedented collaboration of tech leaders Google, Facebook and Twitter have united under Tech Together to support this year’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day efforts on October 24. Tech Together partners will utilize their platforms to provide information through a personalized automated Facebook messenger experience, custom twitter emoji and Google mapping tools for families and individuals wanting to safely dispose of unused medicines. Medicine Safety and COVID-19

Ensuring safe, affordable access to needed medications is core to the mission of CSIP and its partners. In the age of COVID-19, this work is even more important. People are putting off health care visits that are needed to prevent or manage chronic health conditions like diabetes and heart disease. To reduce infection and spread, in-person doctor and pharmacy visits are limited, leaving those at greatest risk even more vulnerable. Knowing about the availability of telehealth, prescription delivery services, and ways to safely visit a doctor or pharmacy, can help people continue to access needed care. Read More

Recognizing that Americans pay more for prescription drugs than any other developed country in the world, CSIP has long made it a priority to direct consumers towards reputable tools that can help them find safe and affordable sources for needed medications.
